Filling the inexplicable void

A forgettable person, but once you stumble upon me - you'd think otherwise.

Dream journal - 03-03-2013

I traveled from Manila to Baguio just to get a cheap flight to Japan, and when I arrived in Japan I went to a mountainous town that’s being flattened by planting bombs and letting higher places explode as I just like seeing the countryside and it’s en route to a festival I wanted to attend. I saw an entire row of houses detonate to dust one night while traveling as they try to make more space for agriculture and larger property development.

I met a group of Filipinos who established an NGO who coordinates with these construction companies to ensure the elderly are being evacuated from these neighborhoods as there were reports of old people left to their homes by their families or old people resorting to secluded living due to shame or debt.

I joined their group.

Dream Journal - 12-10-12

I went to the cinema with friends to watch a film called Purple Park. It is collection of eight short films. After the third set, one of my friends wanted to go to the concessionaire stand because he’s afraid of puking scenes. We went to a Dunkin Donuts stand, saw a lady, and ordered a Choco Wacko. That lady is so lazy at doing her job, I shouted at her, she threatened to shove the doughnut to my face. I got angrier because of that and the fact that the doughnut doesn’t have enough coating, and I threw the doughnut to her face.

By the way, it shares the top spot in my beer list with Stella Artois - it’s fruity in a nice, non-intrusive way, and it also tastes good even if it isn’t cold - a mark of well-crafted beer IMO.

Nakakalungkot minsang isipin na alaala na lang ang kaya mong panghawakan sa kanya.

Can’t help but to laugh at the last ad (it’s a compilation of 9 ads from Konica’s disposable camera line during the 90s)

I miss Vanilla Coke so I bought myself a Vanilla Coke lip balm. :(

Enough dwelling on the 80s, it’s 2012 - you can only reminisce stuff from 20 years ago.

Treat yourself

Even though I posted something about saving, I was able to manage to find several thousands of pesos to spend. I never went for a pair of chinos I am aiming to buy for months, I never went for the bag I’m eyeing for at Lacoste because my bag’s leather is chipping off like fuck, but I opted for the usual small things I like that I know I would enjoy for the next couple of weeks.

1. After doing a trial on Syoss Anti-Dandruff Control shampoo and conditioner, I loved how it never left a greasy feel in my hair and how the conditioner was absorbed quickly by my hair. I bought big bottles and the best part - it’s cheaper than what I usually use (Dove Hair Fall Control shampoo and intensive conditioner), win-win.
2. I love Pringles Pizza.
3. I bought Eye-Mo for my eye veins.
4. Ate at Chuck’s because I’m craving for greasy burger steaks (never a bad thing) and it’s good my officemate joined me at eating there.
5. I found out that buying a 6-pack of Kleenex saves me as much as PHP 42 pesos when compared to buying 6 of those at 7-Eleven.
6. I bought a Koala canister from Lotte Koala no March for my younger sister.
7. I bought Ritz for my great grandma because she likes it better than Fita.
8. My pump bottle of Neutrogena facial cleanser ran out of juice so I bought another one, and Landmark has it at a 60-peso discount compared to Watson’s.
9. Baby wipes.
10. I bought two boxes of Celestial Seasonings tea - sleepytime and strawberry herbal tea yay

On finances

I’m bad at managing my money. I need to kill my spontaneity to save money. I don’t want to discuss anything that costs anything or anything that has monetary value to my parents anymore. Nakakasawa ang litanya.

I hope my plan’s gonna work out. I’m growing old, and if I continue with my teenage ways, I’d die broke. I gotta trim down on the cab. It’s like my inability to fall asleep hit me in the head and it’s telling me to grow up or die unhappy. I gotta tone my already toned-down social life down even more.

I’m 21 but I spend like I’m 13. I gotta stop this.

Christmas wishlist (or birthday, because I really can’t buy any of them with 2 months salary)

1. Panasonic Lumix GF5 (a decent mid-range camera for a dummy like me)
2. A bottle of SK-II Men Facial Treatment Essence (because it costs $170 so yeah)
3. Samsung Galaxy Note II
4. A new work bag (because the leather of my current one chipped off)
5. New set of underwear and socks that will last for a week
6. Three bottles of Grey Goose vodka (because I can afford good white rum and I want good vodka naman)
7. Two kegs of Stella Artois beer
8. Another lava lamp (because that’s the only household item I bought with my salary, aside from a miniwhisk plus I want a pair for my existing one)
9. A set of champagne flutes, white plates and highball glasses

So yeah, I’m growing old.

I stumbled upon an old set of commercials aired 1993 (it says that these are ads that aired during Dragon Ball Z’s second TV special) and wow, it made me miss a lot of things.

1. I miss eating Demae Icho instant ramen
2. I miss playing Hoshi no Kirby in my Super Famicom (after that, Game Boy)
3. I terribly miss hearing Dragon Ball Z’s bumper music
4. I remember 4 years ago when I went to Saudi Arabia, I stumbled upon a pack of Pretz with the same 90s packaging at a Toys R’Us store, and what, our Pretz looked like the late 90s package of it
5. I miss Rejoice when it was a two-in-one shampoo (check their ad, they call it Rejoy), now it’s just plain shit
6. I miss the 80s font of choice (in reference to the cat food ad). I remember they used it here until the mid-90s
7. I think American food became a food fad across Asia during the late 80s/early 90s when we had our own economic boom (in reference to Kellogg’s ad)
8. I never knew what those characters listed on Dragon Ball Z’s video games are until now.

Yeah, just sharing my odd fascination to Japanese culture, and commercials.
